COL. DAVID A. CHRISTY

SERVING THE AREA FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS

At a very young age of 6, David began his love of auctioneering box supper pie auctions. After graduating from Atlanta C-3 High School in 1962, he served his country in the United States Air Force until 1966. Upon returning to Atlanta in 1967, he attended and Missouri Auctioneer's School is Kansas City, MO and began Christy's Auction Service. He purchased the Atlanta Primitive Baptist Church building located and remodeled it to be used for consignment antique auctions. In 1983, he purchased the building that formerly housed the La Plata Gambles Store on the south side of the square in downtown La Plata and has continued to serve Macon County and adjoining areas for almost 50 years. According to the1987 Macon Sesquicentennial book, his “sense of humor and his love for his profession, had become entertainment to many people in the hour of breaking up and parting of family treasures which could be a strained time.”

Christy's Auction Services specializes in all types of auctions --- consignments of household, antiques, vehicles, farm machinery, etc. as well as real estate.  Consignment auctions may be held at the auction barn or at your residence. If you have consignment items that you would like to have included in one of the auctions at the barn we will come to your location and haul it to our facility or you may bring it to us!

We recently found out that our former website builder was no longer supporting the needs of Christy's Auction Service so we had to change our format and website builder. We think that you will like the format much better so like they say "everything happens for a reason" so we guess it may have been for the best ... just a little stressful having to rebuild a website after 8 years!

When you access the sale by clicking on the date you will see the sale bill and the pictures on the same page which is much better than the previous format. You can either click on the first picture and it will zoom in for better viewing and then advance forward through the gallery or you can just click on a specific item of interest.

We hope you enjoy the new look!
